Here's why I Started The Curious Northerner and decided to help others with the skills they need to succeed in life & in business!
Having left school at 16 to become a professional footballer, my earliest experiences (and life lessons) came in the way of a premier league football club.
I felt the often-harsh consequences of internal fragilities and if truth be told, was totally unprepared to enter one of the most cutthroat and ego driven of environments.
Daily feelings of insecurity, fear of failure, fear of judgement, and perfectionism were all too common, and resulted in a real lack of confidence and self-esteem.
I had very low self-worth, and my lack of internal foundations left me susceptible to all external influences.
I became a ‘people pleaser’ of the highest order, and this resulted in me not really knowing who I was, as I always seemed to be playing a role for someone else. It was exhausting!
15 years as a serving police officer followed, but inside, I knew things just didn’t feel right. Almost daily thoughts of ‘there has to be more than this?’.
And there is…
Around 10 years ago, I began my life long crusade of self-development, and in shifting my focus internally, and taking full responsibility for my own thoughts, behaviours, habits and actions, the shift in my own mindset and confidence has been nothing short of life changing. It really does work!
From the countless books, podcasts, life experiences and relevant qualifications, I now put all my learning and growth towards assisting others on their own journey.
